home habitat hope is a site- and community-specific book publication and walking guide, by artists Charli Clark and Sylvia Rimat. home habitat hope was part of Charli and Sylvia’s ‘Made in Bonnington’ residency and commission, which saw them in residence at a community building and garden of a new housing development, Bonnington Walk. From July 2025 to March 2026, the new residents of the newly built 180 houses and flats alongside existing neighbours, were invited to weekly creative ‘Making Space’ sessions in and around the garden. Activities included improving habitats for the local wildlife with willow bird feeder and bee hotel making and making natural paints, whilst encouraging a regular gift exchange for homegrown produce and seeds and listening to residents’ relationships and stories that belong to the site. They hosted bat walks, a BioBlitz, foraging, fermenting and brewing workshops with the community.

The experiences from the residency eventually culminated in the illustrated book publication and site-specific walking guide ‘home habitat hope’ for the Bonnington Walk community, exploring habitat, foraging and food growing and drawing on personal stories from existing residents, as strategies for putting down roots and feeling at home.

home habitat hope was launched in April 2026.
