Almost a year ago, we began our ‘Made in Bonningto Almost a year ago, we began our ‘Made in Bonnington’ residency, commissioned by @GinkgoProjects, just as the first residents were moving into their new homes.
Over the months that followed, we got to know the people, plants, wildlife and stories that make this place what it is.
Together we made natural paints, built willow bird feeders and bee hotels, shared homegrown produce and seeds, explored the area on bat walks and BioBlitzes, and gathered to forage, ferment and brew. Each activity became a way to build connections – with the local landscape, wildlife and one another.
As the community grew, so did the garden, and our understanding of what it means to make a place feel like home.
One outcome of the residency is ‘home habitat hope’ – an illustrated walking guide inspired by the people, ecology and experiences that shaped the past year. Created for Bonnington Walk residents, it’s gifted to new households as they move in, inviting them to explore the neighbourhood, put down roots and connect with the place they now call home.
‘Made in Bonnington’ is a residency by @CharliClarkArt and @sylviarimat commissioned by @GinkgoProjects, funded by Legal & General, and supported by Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust

We’re happy to inform you that Broad Meadow wildfl We’re happy to inform you that Broad Meadow wildflower installation @broadmeadowbristol on Merchant Street South has now been repositioned and is back to inviting passers-by to sit down, have a rest, enjoy the plants and listen to the audio work. The current set up is provisional and will be in place until January 2026. In January, the plant boxes and benches will be moved back into its original (centred and wider) shape and layout.
The other two Broad Meadow installations on Merchant Street North and Broadmead West have not been affected and are running as usual.
Thanks for the brilliant support from Bristol City Council’s City Centre Development team, @bristolartsdevelopment and Bristol BID
team @bristolshopping to get the installation back up and running.
